BookIT Enterprises Inc. is incorporated under Canadian law, and thus is subject to the Personal Protection and Electronic Documents Act ('PIPEDA', otherwise known as the Privacy Law), which took effect Jan. 1, 2004.
Under the act we are required to notify our customers of the information that we have on file for them.
The only information that we have on file for our customers is information that they have previously provided to us through their correspondence or orders.
We keep information on file to satisfy the requirements of the Tax Department, to service each account efficiently and accurately, to communicate with our customers, to assist our customers with problems, and to assist those customers searching for books.
We keep some or all of the following information on file for each customer:
- Name
- Address
- Email address
- Copies of correspondence, both email and regular mail
- Telephone numbers and fax numbers
- A perpetual listing of books ordered
- A list of books for which the customer has requested a search
For our BookIT software clients, we may also have copies of their databases in our possession, for the purposes of testing and debugging. We treat each database with the same security as our own, and do not share data between clients unless specifically authorized.
We never sell, lend, or exchange any data which we have on file about our customers or clients. Information is not disclosed nor available to anyone other than our office staff who work directly with order processing, or software programming. Data access is password controlled, and we are not open to the public. Data backups are securely stored.
We do not answer any calls on insecure cell phones.
From time to time, we notify clients by email about new releases of the software, and other issues they should be aware of. We do this by individual direct contact, or bulk contact through a news group on Yahoo.
Should you have any problems with the information we retain, please contact Grant Thiessen, President of BookIT Enterprises.
